What AlienReel processes
To perform a request, AlienReel temporarily processes the URL you submit and metadata returned by the source, such as title, platform, duration, formats, and thumbnail. Standard infrastructure logs may also contain request time, network address, status code, and diagnostic identifiers.
Accounts
If you create an AlienReel account, AlienReel stores your email address, a securely hashed password, account creation information, plan and allowance records, API-key metadata, and usage needed to operate your account. Full subscriber API-key secrets are shown only when created; AlienReel stores a one-way hash for later authentication.
Owner analytics
AlienReel keeps private operational analytics for the site owner. These records can include page visits, the submitted source URL, IP address, browser user agent, extraction result, selected network route, platform, error code, and execution time. IP addresses may be sent to a geolocation service to obtain an approximate country. These records are used to understand traffic, revisits, failures, abuse, reliability, and infrastructure usage; they are not a permanent media library.
Usage and allowance records
AlienReel records the calling client or account, operation type, platform, selected quality, media duration, estimated or transferred bytes, execution time, outcome, and timestamp. These records support security, reliability, account statistics, download and bandwidth limits, API access, passes, and subscription billing.
Temporary media
AlienReel does not operate a permanent media library. Direct downloads may be resolved or streamed without permanent storage. When a source exposes separate video and audio streams, AlienReel may temporarily download and combine them without re-encoding before delivery. MP3 extraction also uses temporary files. Prepared media and abandoned workspaces are removed by delivery cleanup or automatic retention cleanup.
Web sessions and API keys
The web app uses protected, HttpOnly cookies for browser sessions and owner access so private API keys are not exposed in browser JavaScript. External subscriber clients authenticate with API keys. Raw API-key secrets are not written to application logs.
Human verification
AlienReel uses Google reCAPTCHA v3 to help protect browser analysis, video download preparation, audio extraction, and owner sign-in against automated abuse. When you use a protected action, Google processes browser and interaction signals and may set a necessary cookie to assess risk. AlienReel verifies the response on its server and records the action and risk score for security monitoring, without logging verification tokens. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
Third parties and retention
Your request necessarily contacts the source platform and its media delivery network, and some requests may use configured network proxy providers. Approximate-country lookup can contact an IP geolocation provider. Payment providers may process purchase or subscription information when billing is enabled. Those services apply their own privacy terms. Operational and commercial records are retained only as needed for account operation, security, reliability, analytics, billing, fraud prevention, and applicable obligations.
Your choices
Do not submit a URL if you do not want the source contacted or the request recorded for operational analytics. You can stop active processing by canceling an extraction. Privacy or account-data inquiries can be sent through AlienCat Software's contact page.
